State Theatre, Kilburn

This original 4/16 Wurlitzer was designed by Quentin Maclean in 1937 and includes several rare ranks, namely: The only Wurlitzer Harmonic Flute/ Genuine 16' English Horn in Europe.  Also a unique four manual console designed by the cinema architect George Coles. The Gaumont State, Kilburn Wurlitzer opened in 1937 with first resident organist Sidney Torch at the console. - It’s a unique instrument, custom designed by Quentin Maclean, with many unusual features including a 16’ English Horn and a Harmonic Flute.

The original piano has long since disappeared, but the rest of the organ is largely intact and kept in good condition by ATOS London Chapter.  The console was originally on a rotating lift to the right-hand side of the orchestra pit; it is currently located on a fixed platform to the left-hand side, underneath the two pipe-chambers.
